Wow toys – An entire world of imagination and no Batteries!!

I have lost count of the times I have bought a toy and forgotten batteries or thought I already had some at home; Most likely did have until a toy used them. I have lost count of the amount of times my friends have commented on the quantity of batteries I must own, what with all the electronic toys and gizmo’s we have at home. The times we have taken batteries from one toy to put into the toy of the moment and worse taken batteries from our own items to save the tears. I suspect many of you are nodding in agreement, most of us have done at least one of the above at sometime. Isn’t that why shops remind you at the checkout “Have you remembered the batteries?” Is that why they are so expensive too?

Wow toys have come to the rescue with a huge, no, enormous range of toys that do amazing things without, yes WITHOUT, the need for batteries!! Whoo hoo! At last toys I can be assured are playable from the box because Wow Toys use powerful ‘push and go’ friction motors to insure playability for along time to come. The vibrant array of colours and styles, such as helicopters, boats, diggers and more, mean there is something for every child and although aimed at 1-5 yr old children I would put money on them being enjoyed for much longer than that!

peteI was apprehensive at first, most of the non-electronic toys are dumped, much to my dismay, squarely at the bottom of the toy box – never to be seen again. Most lose their appeal when they do not actively urge you to press the buttons or push it along. I cannot tell you how infuriating it is to check on the children at night and tiptoe across their room to have Upsy Daisy blearing out “I’m the only Daisy Doo” at the top of her voice, activated by the most minute vibration of the floor board. I am thankful to Wow Toys for showing me the light!

We had the pleasure of reviewing Police Plane Pete and Roll-it Riley. My son did not know which one to play with and no matter how many times I told him to share with his sister, 2 minutes later he would have both Pete and Riley and be in his own world of imagination.

Police Plane Pete was just fantastic, I will confess I was reluctant to share myself when I eventually got to have a good look at him. His friction motor wheels turned his propellers and propelled him further along the floor after you released him.  He has the most delightful hidden compartment on his back and if you turn the dial, on the end of his tail, you will find such things as his little doggy friends lead and lunch!

rileyRoll-it Riley is most definitely my 1 yr old’s favourite, she loves his friction propelled motor and his realistic engine sounds with rattling roller and so do I. The face of Riley changes from sleeping to dirty and then to happy when he moves along. Children, or adults, can use his face as a shape sorter or create funny new faces to entertain and amuse.

Both Riley and Pete boast developmental benefits, as listed below, and would make an ideal gift for any child under 5, perhaps even older.

From 1½ years – Sensory stimulation and motor skill development
From 2 years – Discovery & learning
From 2½ years – Social interaction
From 3 years – Role-play & exploration
